Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections Opens Next Week in Seattle


The 19th Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections -- better known as the Retrovirus conference or CROI -- will take place next week, March 5-8, at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle. will be on site to provide breaking news, analysis, and video coverage.


CROI is one of the most important annual scientific meeting on HIV/AIDS, bringing together top researchers from around the world. Some of the major topics to be discussed this year include biomedical prevention of HIV, new antiretroviral therapies in development, management of HIV- and treatment-related complication such as cardiovascular disease and neurocognitive impairment, and steps towards a cure.

This year's conference will also emphasize hepatitis C -- including HIV/HCV coinfection -- as direct-acting antiviral therapies usher in a new treatment paradigm.
