April 10 is National Youth HIV and AIDS Awareness Day

Wednesday, April 10, is the first-ever National Youth HIV + AIDS Awareness Day, an occasion to raise awareness of the epidemic among young people in the U.S.

Youth advocates announced the inauguration of the new awareness say at the International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2012) last summer in Washington, DC. The observation is spearheaded by Advocates for Youth and 11 other founding partners.

"[T]he creation of National Youth HIV + AIDS Awareness Day is a step toward addressing the needs of young people in the fight against HIV and AIDS," according to the organizers.
