Glucose: Metabolic Profile in the HIV Lipodystrophy Syndrome

• Here is a comparison chart showing the differences between the two groups in terms of various metabolic parameters.1

• As you can see, patients in the lipodystrophy group had significant abnormalities in two-hour glucose levels above 140 mg/dL.

• In addition, these patients were more likely than the controls to have hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia, as well as reduced levels of HDL-cholesterol.

• In conclusion, patients with lipodystrophy have a metabolic syndrome consisting of profound insulin resistance, hyperlipidemia, and elevated cardiovascular disease risk factors.
