                  | SUMMARY:
The 50th Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and
                    Chemotherapy (ICAAC 2010) -- the
American Society for Microbiology's annual meeting focused
on infectious diseases including HIV -- is taking place this
week, September 12-15, in Boston. At the same time, the 1st
annual United States Conference on AIDS (USCA 2010), sponsored
by the National Minority AIDS Council, is underway in Orlando,
with an emphasis on community-based response to the AIDS epidemic. | | |
            | | | | | Over the
          next few weeks, HIVandHepatitis.com
will provide reports on selected highlights from conference presentations.
ICAAC will include oral and poster presentations on HIV pathogenesis,
experimental HIV therapies -- including 48-week
data from a study of Gilead Science's new Quad pill -- complications
of HIV and its treatment, and HIV/HCV coinfection.

The full ICAAC 2010 conference program and abstracts are now available
          online at www.icaac.org, with additional
materials to be added as presentations occur.

The mission of new United States Conference on AIDS is to "increase
the strength and diversity of the community-based response to the AIDS
epidemic through education, training, new partnerships, collaboration
and networking." The meeting will bring together more than 3000
people working in the HIV field, including medical professionals, case
managers, public health experts, policymakers, advocates, and people
          with HIV themselves.
